    1848 (May 16): Prepaid large part entire letter from Le Havre to Santiago endorsed 'per Houghly', struck with 'Bureau Maritime / Havre' despatch cds and 'P.P.' in red, struck on arrival with straight line ULTRAMAR and VALPARAISO with FRANCA and manuscript rates "1½+2 = 3½" to pay. Fine strikes and a scarce cover.
