    Last day of Hungarian Post Offices in Romania 1869 (March 31): Cover from Bucharest to Vienna bearing 1867 coarse whiskers 10 kr. blue, a fresh and fine adhesive with very good perforation, tied by "BUCHAREST 31/3" cds, reverse with thimble "WIEN 4/4 arrival cds. The cover has a receipient's note "Bucuresco 869 19/31. Martie" inside proving the usage on March 31, 1869.rnReference: Displayed and discussed in Ferchenbauer handbook vol. IV, p. 483.rnNote: After the 'Ausgleich' between Austria and Hungary, the former Austrian post offices in Bucharest, Fokschani, Galati, Giurgevo, Ibraila and Ploestie were administered by the Hungarian Ministry of Trade in Pest after May 1, 1867. With the first postal treaty between Hungary and Romania which came into force in April 1869, mail from Romania abroad could be sent directly by the Romanian post. Therefore, the Hungarian post offices on Romanian ground were closed on March 31, 1869.
