    1861 (Jan 22): Cover to Glückstad, near Hamburg franked by 1857 3 c. brown-red, with 12 examples in a block of six and two horizontal strips of three, mailed with fine "Fort Davis / Texas" despatch cds in black and the adhesives cancelled by fancy circular handstamps-manuscript note "Postage Paid on the back of it" to denote the stamps on reverse. New York transit (Feb 9) in red and thence struck with "Franco / Preuss Resp.Vereins / Ausgangs Grenze" in red (Van Der Linden fig. 1504) and Aachen datestamp (22/2). Charged "4" (Danish skillings) due in crayon. A delightful and stunning cover, 1 cent overpaid, mailed just 10 days before Texan Independence. Cert. Jakubek (1982).
