    International Postal Connections to Europe - Great Britain 1869 (Sept): Unpaid cover, presumably from Constantinople or written on the Black Sea, mailed to Manchester, endorsed in manuscript and with superb "VIA VARNA" straight line handstamp in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 114). Manchester arrival cds (Sept 24) in black alongside, reverse with London transit cds (Sept 24) in red. Front with handstruck "5½" sgr. charge applied at the railway line Cologne-Verviers and handstruck "11d" due in black. Cover with toning and some wear, illustrated in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 391.rnNote: Starting in 1866, the new Varna - Rustschuk Railway line shortened the journey again by one more day.
