    International Postal Connections to Europe - North German Federation 1869 (Feb 27): Cover from Berlin to Constantinople, endorsed "Via Belgrad", franked with 1868 rouletted 1 gr. carmine (Mi 4), single example and a horizontal pair, tied by "BERLIN POST-EXP. 23 27 / 2 69 6-7N" cds in blue. Reverse with Vienna transit and "CONSTANTINOPLE 10 / 3" arrival cds (Tchilinghirian fig. 385) in black.rnNote: In winter the land route to Constantinople via Belgrad was used. Prior to the opening of the North German Federation P.O. in March 1870, the Austrian postal services were used.
