    Competitors of the Austrian Lloyd - Germany 1873 (Dec 11): Entire letter from Constantinople via Odessa to Vienna, endorsed "via Odessa", bearing German 1872 Large Shield 1 gr. carmine, a horizontal pair and a single example, tied by clear "KAISERL. DEUTSCH. P.A. CONSTANTINOPEL 11/12 73 12-1N." cds's in black. Reverse with Vienna arrival (17/12) cds. Some blunted perforations, an attractive and scarce usage, illustrated in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 315, signed Richter & Georg Bühler.rnNote: Up to the foundation of the UPU, mail to the GAPU had a rate of 2½ gr. if sent via Varna, but 3 gr. if sent via Odessa.
