    Austrian Levant Rates 1864 (March 18): Cover from Alexandria to Venice, endorsed "Vap Aus Diretto", franked with 1863 Arms 10 s. blue and 15 s. brown perf. 14, fine, fresh and well embossed, tied by light "ALEXANDRIEN 18/3" cds in black (Tranmer fig. 5). Reverse with Venezia cds and distribution handstamp. Fine cover showing the 25 so. rate before 1866 from Alexandria with 15 s. for the Levant and 10 s. to Venice. Illustrated in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 272.
