    Austrian Levant Rates 1856 (Aug 29): Entire letter from Trieste to Dardanelli, internally dated 1856, bearing two examples of 1854 6 kr. brown in vivid colour with good to large margins all round, tied by "TRIESTE 29/8 Abends" cds's in black. An appealing and early prepaid cover showing the 12 kr. rate to the rare post office on the Dardanelles, endorsed "per Costantinopoli / Col Vapore" in manuscript. For mail to the majority of Post Offices 12 kreuzer CM had to be paid, for this cover no additional fees for Austria were due as it was despatched in Trieste.
