    Trieste Rate Handstamps 1864 (April 28): Unpaid cover from Alexandria to Cologne endorsed "via Trieste", struck with clear "ALEXANDRIEN 28/4" cds in black (Tranmer fig. 5), fine strike of '6' rate handstamp (Van der Linden fig. 3087) alongside in deep blue ink. Reverse with Coeln arrival cds (May 7). The '6' silbergroschen rate handstamp reflects 3 silbergroschen each for the Lloyd part and the GAPU part of the journey. Scarce. Illustrated in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 230.
