    Trieste Rate Handstamps 1857 (Jan 23): Unpaid cover from Alexandria to Essen, struck with "ALEXANDRIEN 23/1" cds in black (Tranmer fig. 5), strike of framed '6¼' rate handstamp (Van der Linden fig. 3092) alongside. Reverse with distribution cds (Feb 1). The '6¼' silbergroschen rate handstamp reflects 9 kreuzer CM each for the Lloyd part and the GAPU parts of the journey. Illustrated in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 230.
