    Trieste Rate Handstamps 1858 (Jan 25): Unpaid cover from Glarus to Constantinople, struck with clear "GLARUS 25 JAN 58 8 A." cds, reverse with Chur and Triest transits and Constantinople arrival datestamp (Feb 5). Struck in transit at Triest with framed "3-5 / 2-20" rate handstamp (unlisted in Van der Linden) in blue, the upper part being the rate from Switzerland to Trieste (3.05 piastres = 6 + 9 = 15 kreuzer), the lower part being 2.20 piastres = 12 kreuzer for the sea journey to Constantinople. A spectacular and extremely rare usage. Illustrated in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 228.
