    Disinfected mail 1787 (Jan. 8): Entire letter from Smyrna to London, Rogers correspondence, with manuscript Forwarding Agent 'rec'd in Galata the 8 Jany G. Abbott' and 'Vienne le 29. Janvier 1787 recu fréres Smitner' notations as well as Semlin 'SIGILLUM SANITATIS' disinfection strike on reverse - an extremely early usage (first month?) with London Bishop Mark of arrival (FE/10) alongside. A fine and rare double Forwarder to an unusual destination at this date. Illustrated and discussed in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 97. rn
