Mail Boat Obliterations / Pacific Station 1865 (July 28): Cover franked by Great Britain 1862 4 d. red, hairlines, used with New South Wales 1870/72 6 d. violet perf. 13, on cover initialled by sender 'CSF' at lower left (Cecil G. Savile Foljambe) endorsed 'via Marseilles' to the Viscountess Milton in Worksop, with imprinted "HMS Curacoa" crest on reverse of envelope, each stamp tied by bold strikes of the Mailboat "B56" obliterator in black. Reverse with Worksop arrival cds's (Nov 11). Fortunately the British Museum has the original correspondence and this confirms this letter was written on board the "HMS Curacao" whilst it was in Ovalau, Fiji on July 28, 1865 and mailed in the New Hebrides on August 8, 1865, the ship returning to Sydney on October 13.
