    1879 (Feb 26): Cover from Lima to Hamburg endorsed 'via Panama, England' to Hamburg franked by Peru 1874 20 c. brown-red (Scott 27) tied by 'Lima / Principal' cds (Feb 26) in black, used in combination with Great Britain 1876 4 d. sage-green pl. 16, three examples, cancelled by three strikes of the "C38" obliterator with 'Callao' British P.O. cds on reverse (Feb 26). Reverse with London transit (March 29) and Hamburg arrival over unusual 'Mercantile Bank of Peru' label. Found to be double weight upon arrival and struck with 'T' marking and charged '160' pfennigs due to pay in blue crayon.
