    1896 (Oct 16): De La Rue artist's composite Essay for proposed 2½ d. value imperforate with printed 'Pax et Justitia' vignette in deep blue, the Frame hand-painted with ST. VINCENT in deep blue, the scrolling ornaments in pale blue on three sides and the value tablet in brown with figures picked out in Chinese white. The Essay marked "A" at top and dated "Oct 16 96" in black ink manuscript. Illustrated in "The De La Rue Collection" edited by Frank Walton RDP on page 5546.
