    Surcharged by the 'West Indian Press' 1878 (March 28): Provisional 1 d. on half 5 s. rose, perf. 15½ x 15, surcharge reading up on two examples, reading down on a third, all with '1' showing curved serif (Type 3a), used on small piece with 1878 1 s. dull purple, all tied by 'Barbados' cds's (April 10, 1878) in black. Unusual most appealing usage. Signed Calves Gi = £ 1'950+.
