    1902/07: Essays from the De La Rue records, two sheets dated "27 February 1907 / Natal Reg. 89/05." at top, with Imperforate 5 s. values (7) in differing colours and annotated in manuscript alongside: 5 s. green & red (as issued in 1907 but the duty was on yellow paper), 5 s. in purple & chocolate-brown, 5 s. in grey-black & blue (as used for the 1902 £ 1), second half of the now divided sheet with 5 s. in green & violet (annotated £ 1.10 s.), 5 s. in mauve & black (annotated £ 5), 5 s. in green & orange (as used for the £ 10), 5 s. in purple & green (annotated £ 20); the seven Essays were produced at the request of the Natal Govt. as Essays for doubly-fugitive ink to be used in the future to prevent the stamp's re-use.
