1882/83: Pages from the De La Rue archives with initial part page with ½ d. dull green and 3 d. grey, each perforated 12 (unissued thus) and annotated alongside "Proposed Colour" and, alongside the ½ d. "being that established by the International Postal Convention for this duty", second page with "Natal Postage Stamps / Existing and proposed Schemes of Colours", dated at top Aug 28, 1883; with 1882 ½ d. and 1 d. rose, perf. 14 as issued with 1 d. annotated "Colour established by the International Postal Convention for this duty" and 3 d. bright blue imperforate; third page with "Existing Colours" 4 d. (deep) brown and 5 d. bright reddish violet and 5 s. maroon perf. 14 "these colours cannot be improved upon" and unissued 1 s. in orange, perf. 12, with "This is the colour the Colonial Secretary, in his letter of the 14th Aug. 1880, gave instructions for all future supplied of the 1/- postage stamps to be printed in".
