    Overprinted 'Postage' by Keith & Co. 1869 (Aug 23): 6 d. violet, wmk. Crown CC, perf. 12½, optd. 'POSTAGE.' Type 7e, First Setting, two examples used on 1873 cover from Umhlali to Brighampton, NY, USA cancelled by numeral obliterators in black with fair UMHLALI / Crown / NATAL cds of despatch at right. Framed TOO LATE in black and manuscript "Insuff. Stamped 2d." at left. Reverse with Durban transit cds, London transit in red (May 23). On arrival struck with NEW YORK / 31 U.S. NOTES cds in black (June 4). A scarce Transatlantic usage.
