    Overprinted 'Postage' by Keith & Co. 1869 (Aug 23): 6 d. blue, no wmk. perf. 14, optd. 'Postage.' Type 7b (12¾ mm.), Second Setting, a used example on cover front to Mrs. Windham in Grey Town tied by fair strike of oval framed POST OFFICE / P. M. BURG handstamp in black. The addressee Mrs. Windham, was the wife of Ashe (Smith) - Windham, who arrived in Natal in June 1855. In 1857 he was appointed Magistrate to the Umvoti Division in Natal and lived at Greytown. In 1864 due to a Zulu invasion scare, Windham was made commander of the Greytown Mounted Rifles Gi = £ 700 off cover.
