    1859: De La Rue engraved original Master Die Proof for the 6 d. value on thick card, of outstanding appearance and of great rarity. Sold together with a later 1862 Plate Proof in rose-red on star wmk. paper, notice the difference in the depth of shading on the Queen's right eye, some of which had been lost by the Plate Proof stage of the printing for the later issue. There are believed to be have been just six of the Die Proofs in black struck - one is housed in the collection of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
