    1840 (Oct 1): Mulready 1 d. black letter-sheet, stereo A24, with 'English and Scottish Law Fire and Life Assurance' printed advertisement, used within London from the Chief Office to the Temple, struck with neat Maltese Cross in black. Opens well for display with reverse showing "T.P. / Chief Office" Twopenny Post handstamp in black and framed arrival 'OC-1 / 1840' in red. A very fine and extremely early usage of the black Maltese Cross Gi = £ 825+.
