    French Post Office 1862/63: France 10 c. bistre, two horizontal pairs used on 1867 cover from Galatz to Messina, Sicily tied by bold strikes of "5085" gros chiffres struck in blue with pearled GALATZ / MOLDAVIE cds below (April 27). Framed 'PD' at left also in blue but deleted by the Postmaster as underpaid to this destination and substituted by 'Affranchisement / Insuffisant' struck in red with '5' décimes due to pay in manuscript. Reverse with French P.O. 'Constantinople / Turquie' transit (April 30) and Messina arrival (May 5) datestamp in black. Slight scuff at the base of one adhesive but an exceedingly scarce and attractive cover. Signed L. Miro, Roumet.rnrnProvenance: L. Miro, Dec 1958, lot 556.
