    1854 (June 11) Entire letter from Rivas to Crown Point, Essex County, New York, carried by hand and mailed unpaid on arrival with "New York / 5 Cts." datestamp (July 12) in black. The contents are splendid concerning the revolution and fighting in Nicaragua, stating that the last stronghold of the Government was in Granda and that the fighting there was desperate. It goes on to state that their chances were slim as the revolutionary Troops entered Rivas unopposed yesterday (June 10) without a gun being fired.
