    Queretaro 1879: 25 c. blue, optd. 1978, used on 1879 cover from Queretaro to Paris endorsed 'por el Paquete Ingles', tied by "Franco En / Queretaro" handstamp in black with datestamp above in blue (Jan 24). Reverse with New York transit cds (Feb 13) and 'Etats Unis / Cherbourg' entry marking in blue on obverse (Feb 25). Taxed with "T / Centimes 35" handstamp in black in transit and charged '85' centimes on arrival. Mexico did not join the UPU until 1881. A fine and attractive cover.
