    1883: General Prospero Fernandez 1 c. green, 2 c. carmine (2), 5 c. blue-violet and 10 c. orange, all used on 1884 registered cover annotated at 15 grams, addressed to Charles Diena in Modena, Italy; tied by 'San Jose' cds's in violet (Oct 10). Reverse with large blue on pink "U.P.U / R / Costa Rica" registration label tied by blue crayon cross with Modena arrival cds (Nov 13) alongside; obverse with 'Registered / London' transit (Nov 11) in red. A splendid and colourful, correctly rated (20 centavos) franking.
