    British P.O.'s 1840 (Sept 1): Cover from Bogotá to London endorsed 'pr R.S.Sanchez, Cartagena' in manuscript at lower left, struck with oval "BOGOTÁ / FRANCA" and rate mark "3" (reales) in red. Mailed on to British Packet at Cartagena with further manuscript notation on front "Forwarded per H.M. Packet via Kingston, Jamaica", and struck with "KINGSTON / JAMAICA" cds in black on reverse (Sept 14). On arrival in Falmouth "CARTHAGENA / O" Fleuron applied in red with London cds of arrival (Oct 29) in red, where rated '2/3d.' due to pay. A fine and rare cover that displays well.
