    Paraguay War 1868: The spectacular lilac cover front addressed to a Captain in Corrientes headed "Reparticão Fiscal do Exercito Imperial" franked by susperb example of the rare red on white "EXCERCITO / EM OPERACÕES / CONTRA / O PARAGUAY" (Type 1) label just tied by British Post Office "Rio De Janeiro" cds in black (Jan 6). One of just two recorded genuine usages of this label on letter. Delightful and rare.
