    Typographed by P. Davis & Son, Pietermaritzburg 1874 (Sept): 6 d. deep blue, thick paper, perforated 12½, a used example (left pane, position 21) on 1874 combination cover to London, tied by unclear numeral obliterator (probably from Pilgrim's Rest) and by circular London MORE / TO / PAY on arrival. Cape 1865/76 1 s. green (Gi. 26a) applied and tied by barred oval obliterator in black. Reverse with PRETORIA / Z.A.R. / ZUID AFRIKA cds of transit (Oct 10) and obverse with KIMBERLEY transit cds (Oct 15) and 'Cape Town / Cape Colony' cds (Oct 22) in black. Manuscript '4' (pence) due to pay at left. Cover 345 in the Jorgensen census, with closed tear at left but a rare and early combination - most especially so with the Davis Printing 6 d. used in first month of issue.
