    Overprinted 'Postage' by Keith & Co. 1869 (Aug 23): 1 d. rose-red, wmk. Crown CC, perf. 12½, optd. 'Postage.' Type 7d (14½-15½ mm.), First Setting, a used example on cover to Pine Town tied by unclear numeral obliterator in black with weak despatch cds (Sept 2, probably Pietermaritzburg) adjacent. Reverse with PINE TOWN / Crown / NATAL cds of receipt (Sept 3) in black. Some aging but a scarce stamp on letter. Cert. BPA (1955).
