    First Printing Overprinted "G" in 7 upright Types 1877 (March): Cape 1 d. carmine-red, wmk. CC, optd. "G" in black, four examples, Types 1a (2) and Type 6 (2), used on 1878 cover with complete contents written from Hope Town to Cape Town, tied by double arc LANGFORD datestamps (June 4) in black. Reverse with further Langford cds and obverse with 'Cape Town / Cape Colony' arrival (June 10) in black. The contents refer to a request for "a pretty work box...it must be a good one, to cost about £5 or £6, you can send it by the first passenger wagon..please address to J. Rostoll Esq., Pont, Hope Town, the wagon always passes through at our place". A most attractive and rare entire.rnrnProvenance: Harmers, London, 20 Oct 1993, lot 1120.
