    'Mafeking Besieged' on Stamps of Cape of Good Hope 1900 (March 23): Surcharged 3 d. on 1 d. carmine, Hope standing, used horizontal strip of four, Types III-VI, the last two stamps with variety "Without Comma after Mafeking" and "Stop for Comma", on 1900 Dixon & Co. envelope to London via the Northern route, tied by MAFEKING / C.G.H. datestamps (April 16) in black. 'Crocodile Pools / South Africa' transit cds below (April 28) and reverse with 'Bulawayo / Rhodesia' transit cds (April 30) in black.
