    De La Rue Printing 1863/64: 1 d. deep carmine-red, a used example with clear to good margins, used on 1864 repaired envelope to Cape Town tied by oval framed WYNBERG datestamp in black (Oct 27). Reverse with 'Cape Town / Cape Colony' cds of receipt (same day). Endorsed on reverse 'Rev. D. Brown, Wynberg, Oct 1864'. A scarce 'drop letter' rate prior to the 1d. rate being extended to include eight other towns in December 1864. Despite faults, a scarce cover.
