  • Lot# : 4031 Cape of Good Hope

    1853 (July): 4 d. blue on lightly blued paper, a fine pair and a single example, with close to clear margins all round, used on 1856 cover to London endorsed 'p. Devastation' and tied by CGH obliterators in black. Reverse with CAPE TOWN / CAPE OF GOOD HOPE cds in red (July 14) and London arrival cds (Sept 3) in red. The pair lifted for checking and hinged back into place, the cover with repaired tear through face panel.
