    1817 (May 10): Entire letter to London annotated 'Duplicate' at left, Adams correspondence, struck on despatch with superb oval 'CAPE OF GOOD HOPE / 20 MAY 20 / 1817 / PACKET LETTER' datestamp in black. The entire rated (on reverse also) at 3/6d. in manuscript to pay. London arrival cds on reverse (July 25) in red. A marvellous strike of this very rare marking with just ten examples recorded.
