    1852 (Dec): Half-Length 3 d. blue, Ham printing, 3rd State, used on 1852 second sheet of entire letter from Melbourne to Leith, Scotland endorsed 'By First Opportunity', tied by bold strike of oval "1/V" obliterator in black. Reverse with "Ship Letter / Melbourne" despatch in red (Dec 21) and London and Edinburgh cds's (July 2, 1853) in red, charged '8' (pence) due in manuscript on arrival. File fold but an attractive cover - a very early (first month) usage. Cert. Perry (2006).
