1883: "Appendix A" and "Appendix B", album page size sheets from the 'Report upon the Adhesive Stamps of the Cape of Good Hope', with Appendix A headed "Stamps printed in Fugitive Ink" showing a strike of the (Alexandria) "BO1" obliterator in black used as a Trial canceller, an uncanclled 1882 1 d. rose-red, another cancelled by the "BO1" and a third example "treated with benzine" in an attempt to remove the cancellation (an evidently successful trial of the inks as the cancel remains but the colour of the stamp has gone). A spectacular pair of pages of great rarity.rnrnProvenance: 'Rectangular Issues', Spink, Sept 2007, lot 40.
