    1855/63: 1 s. deep dark green on white paper, a used example with good to large margins all round, on 1863 cover from Gilbert Farie in Bloemfontein to Glasgow endorsed 'Per Royal Mail Steamer' (carried on the 'RMS Saxon') at top, tied by CGH obliterator in black. Obverse with manuscript '6' in red denoting pre-payment from the Orange Free State to the Cape and PAID / DEVONPORT / CAPE PACKET transit cds (Oct 20), manuscript '11' rate credit in red crayon. Reverse with CAPE TOWN / CAPE OF GOOD HOPE circular datestamp in red (Sept 17) and Glasgow cds in black (Oct 21). The cover is docketed on receipt 'From Gilbert Fane, Bloemfontein 9 Sept '63'.
