    1906: Carol I 40th Anniversary, Bradbury Wilkinson original hand-painted Essay, endorsed 'No.9' at top for 1 lei value, stamp size, drawn in pencil and over-drawn with black wash, frame in scarlet as selected, sunk into presentation card with 'Designed by Bradbury Wilkinson & Co. Ltd., London'  label at lower left. Reverse with handstamp 14 Feb 1906 and manuscript annotation "No. 9. 1 L." and below, "March 3, returned approved, see letter for modification". A splendid Essay, together with the final approved design imperforate in sunken card, signed 'CR' and dated 5 May 1906 on reverse. Unique.
