    1859 (Aug 27): Entire letter from Bogotá to New York struck with fair only BOGOTA / FRANCA oval in blue on despatch, superb large circular ADMINISTRACION DE CORREOS DE COLON / FRANCA in red. Oval FORWARDED BY / C.J.FOX / ASPINWALL Agent's cachet on front in red and two differing rate markings '20' in blue on front (internal charge in centavos) and '25' in blue on reverse (Sobreporte charge for Mail handled by the British Consul in Cartagena) - showing the early application of the Rate Tariff formally introduced on 1st September 1859. The letter carried privately from Aspinwall with docketing of receipt verso (Sept 27). A fine and most attractive entire.
