    1872 (March): Stampless cover from Mejillones to Bordeaux with fine strike of rare despatch MEJILLONES / BOLIVIA cds in black (date inverted, Mejillones was later to become a Chilean town after the Nitrate War) and framed FRANCA applied on despatch. Thence via Lima and British PO in Callao (March 21) to Panama. British PANAMA TRANSIT cds in black and trans-shipped to French steamer "Le Nouveau-Monde" with superb octogonal PANAMA / PAQ. FR. A No 3 1 AVRIL 72 struck in black (Salles 1413/2). Reverse with Bordeaux arrival (April 30) and charged '15' décimes due.
