    1849 (Jan 1): Cérès 20 c. black on yellowish paper, four large margins with portion of adjoining stamps at left and at right, used on 1849 entire letter to Parthenay tied by fine strike of the grill handstamp struck in red with 'Bernay-De-L'Eure' despatch cds at right (Jan 25) in black. Reverse with Le Mans cds (Jan 26) and Parthenay arrival cds (Jan 27). Some file folds not affecting the adhesive. An exceptionally scarce usage of the red grill in the first month of issue.
