    Competition Essays 1905: Essays (2) each in pencil on thick card with proposed 2 d. value endorsed 'No. 1' at top and '1905' with "New South Wales" above "Commonwealth of Australia" showing sheep, wheat and vignette of Edward VII's head on Map of Australia and, on reverse "Kindly return to E. H. K. Crawford, Greenthorpe, NSW", hole at top, slight closed tear at left and slightly grubby; second Essay with Edward VII in blazing sun over Map of Australia showing Duck-bill Platypus, Koala Bear, Lyre Bird and in the corners, again with spike hole at top and marked for return on reverse; the third pencil Essay with 'No. 3' at top and "White Australia-King Edward 1905", the Essay showing Edward VII facing right on Map of Australia and endorsed "Commomwealth of Australia" with Coats of Arms of the States at sides and endorsed "Personally I do not believe in a total White Australia" with slight stain and notation on reverse 'Kindly return to E. H. K. Crawford, Greenthorpe, NSW'. A rare pair.
