1886 (Jan 6): De La Rue hand-painted Essay for proposed 2 s. 6 d. design, marked 'E' at lower right and dated 'Jan 6th 86' at top, stamp size on thick card, 74 x 92 mm., with the Essay drawn in violet and purple including POSTAGE & REVENUE and the head-plate in this colour, the TASMANIA and TWO SHILLINGS & SIX PENCE being picked out in pale blue over Chinese white with perforations in pencil.
