    Ballon Monté No. 67 1871 (Jan 28): Cover and contents to London endorsed 'Par Ballon Monté' franked by 1863/67 10 c. bistre, damaged and 20 c. blue tied by Paris Star with 'Paris / Rue D'Enghien' cds (Jan 28, 5th levée) with framed 'PD' alongside in red. These deleted in manuscript as Paris had fallen to the Prussians with RETOUR / A L'ENVOYER in red (also deleted) in manuscript. Letter held for Prussian Censorship with framed VERSAILLES / AUS WECHSELUNGSSTELE handstamp in blue on reverse. Re-sent after Censorship with 'Paris / Rue D'Enghien' cds (Feb 13) and large framed 'P.D.' in black and London arrival (Feb 17) in red. Despite faults, a very rare cover. the Censor handstamp in use for four days only.rnrnNote: Contents "You will have heard before this reaches you of the surrender of Paris...at present we have nothing to eat and it will be improvident for you to return....I fear that we will have some difficulty in Paris yet considering all, the people are quiet..".
