    1851 (Jan): 3 d. emerald-green on greyish laid paper, a fine sheet corner marginal example, position 1, used on 1851 cover with Laureated 2 d. greyish blue, margins just clear to large, addressed to Barnsley, Yorkshire tied by "64" numeral obliterators of West Maitland in black (the numeral '4' characteristically reversed). Obverse with 'Paid Ship Letter / Crown / Sydney' in red (Oct 9) and manuscript '8' (pence) Ship fee. Reverse with 'W. Maitland' despatch in black (Oct 6) and London cds of transit (Feb 14) in red with Barnsley arrival cds in blue of the same day. A splendid and rare mixed issue franking.
