    Ballon Monté No. 55 1871 (Jan 1): Cover to Berne, Switzerland endorsed 'par Ballon Monté', franked by Siège 1870 10 c. bistre and 20 c. blue, tied by Paris Star 18 with 'Paris / Rue D'Amsterdam' datestamp (Jan 1, 4th levée) alongside in black and framed 'PD' in red. Probably flown from beseiged Paris on the Ballon "Le Duquesne" with Bern arrival cds (Jan 16) on reverse. Thin envelope faults but scarce Maury = € 450+.
