    Ballon Monté No. 55 1871 (Jan 7): 'Gazette Des Absents No. 22', a fine complete example mailed to the care of the Khedive in Cairo, Egypt bearing Siège 1870 40 c. orange tied by Paris Star 11 with 'Paris / R. St. Honoré' cds (Jan 7, 3rd levée, altered to 6th in manuscript), and two strikes of framed 'PD' in red. Carried on the Ballon "Le Duquesne" with reverse showing Avignon transit cds (Jan 21) and fine LE CAIRE / BAU. FRANCAIS cds of arrival (Jan 27).
