    1851: Cover from Ballenar endorsed 'por Vapor' carried south by Coastal Steamer to Santiago, addressed to the Minister of the Interior, Antonio Vargas (1817-1866), struck with BALLENAR and FRANCA straight line handstamps in violet on despatch. FRANCA, CABOTAJE and VALPARAISO all in bright red ink. A fine and most attractive cover with notations of rate changes at upper right.
