1853 (May): Laureated 8 d. orange-yellow on medium bluish paper, a fine large margined example with portion of adjoining stamp at top, used as single franking on registered 1854 cover from Albury to Melbourne, Victoria tied by bold strike of "50" numeral obliterator of Albury with REGISTERED / ALBURY handstamp alongside in black. Reverse with 'Albury / Crown / New S. Wales' datestamp (Sept 9) and Melbourne arrival datestamp (Sept 11) in black. Vertical file folds just away from the fine adhesive, a most attractive and extremely rare single franking. Cert.
